“Philanthropist” is a word that derives from the Greek words, “philos” (love) and “anthropos” (humanity). A philanthropist is someone who gives to others – whether it be money, time, expertise or influence — to promote human welfare and support lasting social change.
Every month, we take a moment to shine a spotlight on an exceptional supporter, sponsor or volunteer in recognition of their dedication to achieving our project mission and a commitment to creating a positive impact. The “MVP” award isn’t just about the numbers; it’s about exemplifying the spirit of giving from the heart.
MVP May 2026 Recipient: HTr. Viên Đức – Nguyễn Mai-Thy
Chi Viên Đức is our May 2026 MVP because she has completed the Starlight Super Steps challenge to walk 10,000 steps every day in May. She raised $963.00 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation which delivers a variety of hospital services for seriously ill children. Not only that, she formed a team with two other friends, called “The Warrior”. Together they raised $1,318.00.
Completing this physical challenge is an impressive achievement for Chi Viên Đức because she has had significant health challenges over the past few years which meant walking was not possible for a period of time. To see her show up every day in May to push herself physically and mentally, and complete this challenge with enthusiasm and a bright smile has been nothing short of inspiring. We are so proud of you, Chi Viên Đức! We cannot think of a more worthy MVP to help us launch our Chu Niên 40 Charity Fundraising Project.
